A small innovative Carrara-based custom PVC and Canvas manufacturing company snared its fifth national industry award on the weekend.

B&J Canvas took out the Australian Canvas and Synthetic Products Association Annual Award for Excellence in the category of domestic and commercial awnings at a gala ceremony at Palazzo Versace.

It’s another feather in the cap for the Gold Coast region’s leading wholesale provider of PVC and canvas fabrication since 1983 and a maiden awards triumph for new company owner Jag Dillon.

“This award, which we won for an outdoor awning at Sea World, is testament to the quality and range of the products we manufacture on the Gold Coast,” Mr. Dillon said.

“It’s recognition of our achievements in being able to fabricate the highest quality products and overcoming design technical difficulties to achieve outcomes that are both presentable and functional.

Seaworld“We work daily with other retail companies, builders and property managers, and fabricate patterns and structures supplied by their engineers and architects to meet their often tricky requirements in both the domestic and commercial markets,” he said.

Mr Dillon has over 26 years of commercial experience and has been involved in the construction industry over the last 5 years developing several up market homes, before purchasing B&J Canvas in November last year.

seaworld qld“The company’s potential just shone through during the economic downturn and it came with fourteen of the most highly qualified technical and other staff, some boasting over 20 years industry experience,” Mr. Dillon said.

“Not only do we fabricate new awnings, shade membrane structures, canopies and umbrellas for the domestic and commercial markets, we also carried out major repairs and refits of these structures at several resort properties such as Sea World, Movie World, Chevron Renaissance, Marina Mirage and Sheraton Mirage”.

“At the same time we manufacture, repair and install café blinds and canopies in restaurants and do a lot of finishing work with signage and banner suppliers,” he said.
